Aggressive Push Needed For Indian Space Ecosystem

Here are some very brief points along with the pointers. I think the heading is self-explanatory.

1. To date, there are around 2 satellite mega-constellations to provide internet and backhaul communication services at LEO

2. To date, there are many other backhaul providers for communications at GEO and MEO, Like Iridium and 

SES S.A. Establishment: 1985.

Viasat Inc. Establishment: 1986.

Intelsat. Establishment: 1964.

Telesat. Establishment: 1969.

General Dynamics. Establishment: 1952.

Cobham Limited. Establishment: 1934.

Gilat Satellite Networks. Establishment: 1987.

EchoStar. Establishment: 1980.

All of them are from USA.

3. We need to push our fronts at the constellation's end not only to provide communication but also to provide a capability for navigation and Imaging (SAR and optical).

It is a single shot and multi-aspect solution, and it will result in being the prime player for the operations, although the initial investment may be high and the risk involved is higher we will sustain with a big takeaway.

4. US-origin private players' dominance over these satellite networks is going to be very evident, similar to MNCs they are going to be everywhere even before we realize where we have been hit. Bringing science to people should be the goal, and Taxpayer should be made strong and confident of what he will be getting back from it.

5. In India, we need a very aggressive stance to stand against the US-origin private players. The startups are not very promising, they need to re-orient their goals and start to take risks.

Providing a Bus is a great solution from Dhruva Space, but I hope Pixxel and SatSure will take in the bus being delivered by the companies and realize the systems faster. Testing facilities of ISRO must be open and easily available for operations.

A big drawback is the lack of Cyber Security infrastructure to protect ISRO, which is causing many delays in operations, and an insufficiently trained workforce to complete the job in INDIA.

A mindset shift is needed, hopefully, that happens fast.
